MINISTRATION GUARDS
I would like to pen down a few guidelines I feel are worth considering during ministration.
➡️First, have the Christ-like passion for the unsaved souls.
➡️Prepare fully with the word of God before ministering.
➡️Try to know/greet the people you minister to by their names.
➡️Take them as your own disciples unto Christ.
Be ready to listen to their physical/material needs as
➡️you are led of God.
Be encouraged to re-visit/follow-up after ministration.
Include them in your prayers.
➡️As you study your bible quietly, jot down ministration topics/scriptures so that you can be ready to minister anytime.
➡️Pray that God will go ahead to “possess the land” for you before embarking on any evangelism work (Psalms 2:8; Matt. 12:29).
➡️Preach that, “All have sinned” (Rom. 3:23).
➡️Preach that, “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom.5:8).
➡️Take yourself in the position of the people you are ministering to (1 Cor. 9:19-23).
➡️Take notice of their level of understanding/assimilation.
➡️Explain scriptures that may not be clear in their ears before preaching.
Preach the gospel in humility.
➡️Use simpler versions of the bible where necessary.
➡️Be grammar conscious.
Be friendly so to ease their minds as they listen to you.
➡️Paint to them the good picture of Christianity so they can develop love for God.
➡️Open up your old life to them and how you got changed. Share your experience, which may give them hope to change.
➡️Be not too spiritual! They will eventually get to this level with time; so that you do not scare them away with Christian acts such as this.
➡️Be not overwhelmed with speaking in tongues, except that it will profit the ministration at that moment. – 1 Cor. 14:2-5.
➡️You must not administer alter call, except it becomes necessary and will profit the
ministration at that moment.
➡️You can lead them to Christ when necessary – individually or as a group.
➡️Do not place yourself better than them, thereby condemning them.
➡️Preach that no one is perfect except God – we’re all striving for perfection.
➡️Encourage them to attend any bible-believing church.
➡️Do not dwell much on church denomination.
➡️Do not take the doctrine of your church denomination as a standard of measurement.
➡️Take the bible as your authority and standard.
Preach Jesus as the perfect example.
➡️Do not impose payment of tithes on them at this level – they will understand it bye and bye.
➡️Encourage them to acquire and read the bible daily.
